I don't know what to call this thing. A cautionary medical folktale? A cross cultural thriller? An unfailingly even handed but riveting throw down between Western and tribal/herbal/shamanistic medicine? No, none of that is right. It's an ethical conundrum. A parable with no winners, no satisfactory answers, a few good guys and the only villain is misunderstanding and an absolute failure to communicate. I'll never look at any kind of medicine in the same way again. Brilliant.
