One Hundred Years of Solitude - Gregory Rabassa, Gabriel García Márquez Look, I know this is everybody's favorite and I'm pretty sure the fault is all my own, but I just couldn't get from one side of this book to the other. The language is beautiful, but I never really felt invited into the story and it didn't help that half the characters seemed to have variations of the same name. I suppose I can't use the 'I hate magical realism" excuse either, because "Winter's Tale" by Mark Helprin is one of my favorite books.
